AFS Definition: A RealAudio® file (.RM) is a compressed audio file that is great for
internet streaming and downloading but not a good choice for archival
purposes. Because the audio is compressed, using a codec developed by
Real Networks®, the size of the file is much smaller than a comparable wave
file of the same length. (Comparison
Table) AudioFile Solutions encodes RealAudio® files in a
8-32Kbps format for conference calls which keeps the size of the file low and
manageable.
