One reason our encoding service is superior to an automated
service, used by many conference call companies, is that we always
begin by recording your conference call into a wave file (.wav)
format. Whether you ultimately want delivery of a MP3, WMA or
RM file, we always record your phone call originally in wave.
This allows us to fully optimize your recording on a Digital Audio
Workstation (DAW) before you receive your file. For customers
who wish to have a copy of their original wave file, AFS is happy
to oblige for only a small additional charge.
AFS Definition: A wave file (.wav) is a high quality, uncompressed audio file. This
type of file is great as an archive and for editing on a DAW. Wave files are very large and are not normally
used for playback over the internet unless the program material is very
short (no more than a few minutes at 11khz, 16bit). AudioFile
Solutions creates wave files that are in a 11khz, 16bit format for conference
calls and 44.1khz, 16bit format for a full bandwidth recording. (Comparison
